Following our initial ideation, we all came up as a group to discuss our research findings. We found the idea of self-performance and how people choose to display a different “persona” of themselves in everyday life quite interesting, and so we spent our next 2 meetings on thinking about ideas as to how we could explore self-performance and how we could use an installation space in order to prompt participants to explore the different aspects of themselves and how they might want control how other people perceive them.
During this point in our research we found a few interesting projects, such as the …….. which analyses facial expressions through the analysis it is displayed what emotion the AI thinks you are portraying.
After these meetings we came up with the idea of an installation which would ask participants to take a selfie of themselves for different scenarios, such as a dating profile or a job application. This installation would give us a collective idea of how people might want to show a different side of themselves according to each scenario.
This exercise would perhaps help participants realise that they might be putting on a different front for certain social situations, and would also draw interesting findings such as exploring if most people would have a similar pose for each of the scenarios, most likely imposed by what they perceive as the social expectation of them would be for certain situations.
